Today was our 7th annual Harvest Fest and my son’s 9th birthday! The Lord blessed us with the most beautiful autumn day. Warm sunshine, golden leaves and blue skies surrounded us, along with the fellowship of family and friends. This year’s activities included rope making, corn cob dolls, a scavenger hunt in the prairie, hay rides and a piñata. My 12 year old niece sat next to me on the hay ride and said this was her favorite party of the year! It is moments like that that make it all worthwhile. It is a lot of work to pull off… but it is the best party of the year.
In Colorado, Harvest Fest had turned into a huge event with so many families. Being new to the Midwest, we mostly invited family and a couple new friends we have made. Each year we just follow the Spirit and adapt with the changes of life. It is the Lord’s Harvest… we just show up!
37 “The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. 38 Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.” (Matt 9:37, CSB)
